They were supportive friends, and share teacher training certifications, Immersions, workshops and classes using the UPA (Universal Principle Of Alignment) while simultaneously traveling different paths. Bob began a meditative study of Yantra yoga and Tibetan Buddhism meditation. Ginger who’s passionate work of years serving Veterans took her into in-depth trainings for PTSD to include iRest Yoga Nidra, Yoga Warriors International, extensive PTSD training and is a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher. Over ten years after meeting, their love for yoga and each other has created a beautiful harmonious training, blending all the teachings into an expanded practice that recognizes the eight limbs of Yoga. Meet Julie one of our instructors beginning Spring 2020
Julie’s yoga and spiritual journey began 20 years ago when she took her first transformational yoga class. Prior to that, she had taken some yoga classes, more as a goal of fitness than one seeking a higher self. As a Yoga Fit* certified instructor, she taught at a gym, and then found her way to her first teacher Stacey Milner-Collins. Under Stacey she continued training in alignment-based hatha and then taught at City Yoga before deciding to devote her time and energy to raising her two boys.
Once her children successfully launched and after 15 years of practice and yogic trainings, she still wanted to refresh herself and learn more with a 200-hour RYT teacher training. Synchronicity led her to Ginger and Bob’s “Begin Within Yoga” training. She loved the alignment training and wanted to go deeper in her understanding of the subtle body, which is what this training offered.
After the training, she was inspired to go even deeper in her spirituality, which led her to the Haden Institute program for Spiritual Direction, which sparked her passion for Jungian psychology, dream work, and continued to feed her yoga practice. Once again, she felt the need to go deeper, which led her to a 300-hour teacher training in India at Sattva Yoga Academy. A Sattva journey is a transformational practice of pranayama, alignment-based yoga, kriya and meditation. This practice is an invitation to find that light within and become one’s authentic Self.
Julie’s experience over the years has taught her to evoke the mystery within and see each day with new eyes in an endless process of discovery and surprise. As an instructor in Sattva yoga and as a Spiritual Director/soul friend, her goal is to provide a safe container for all to connect to their true essence in a fun and effective embodiment of the spirit.
